Hello, I'm Sean May
I currently work as the Senior Assistant Golf Course Superintendent at The Mad River Golf Club in Creemore, Ontario. I was born and raised in Mississauga, Ontario where I graduated from the University of Guelph Turfgrass Management program. I am currently pursuing a Certificate in Business through the University of Guelph. I have obtained my AAGS designation through the Canadian Golf Superintendents Association as an Accredited Assistant Golf Course Superintendent.
Over the last fifteen years, I have had the opportunity to work for some great mentors along with some passionate teams. I thrive in the wonderful outdoor environments that golf courses provide. I ensure that all golf course maintenance practices favour bentgrass through data-driven decision-making. While working at Mad River I have honed these skills. To manage bentgrass surfaces it takes a certain mindset to keep the poa annua out.
A successful golf course maintenance department is all about your team. Much like a sports team, every player has a role. In our case, that looks like working together to execute daily maintenance tasks on the golf course to achieve a common goal. I have a passion for leading by example with a hands-on approach.
Currently our tee off time is only for three. I am married to my beautiful wife, Emily and a father to our daughter, Ellie. In the off season, you can find me at the ski hill catching freshly groomed runs.
